Here is Ashleigh in bed with her cousin’s three kids. The kids visit often and Ashleigh loves it as you can tell by the smile on her face. On this day the oldest, Paige, had a day off of school and got to join Evan and Natalie piled in bed with Ashleigh.
Paige used to spend hours in bed watching movies with Ashleigh when she was little and now she says even though she is a grown-up first grader she still loves it.
I hope you got my last note I sent. I had my accident aug. 1, 2009. I still have alot of problems, just in the brain.

Your story really touched my heart as my son, Cory was in a tubing accident on 1/5/10. He hit a tree with the left side of his head causing multiple fractures, swelling & bleeding on the brain. He was in STICU for a long period of time in which he slipped into a coma. We weren't allowed to touch or talk to him for 2 weeks. My whole world came crashing down. I would've given anything to take his place. He came back to us 2 weeks later and is in therapy to regain all of the things we take for granted. We also have a long road ahead of us but with God's grace, we will make it through this. God bless you all, especially your beautiful daughter. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.
Ashleigh!! What a trooper. My little brother has minor brain damage from an accident and it breaks my heart to see him struggle. He battles seizures from the brain damage as well. But you have been such a tough person through everything and that really encourages me. I pray for healing for my little brother everyday and I trust the Lord 100% that He will heal him. I will be praying for your healing as well. As we both know the Lord still performs miracles even today!! Stay strong girl because you are amazing 🙂

My name is Mike Shelton. My son Alex, sustained a TBI in January of 2008. He was in Mexico and slept walk off a bacony. He was given a 10 percent chance of living at the time. 2 years later he has make great strides. He has gone through most of the same things that all TBI patients have. It has been a long 2 years, but he can walk with a walker now. he attends therapy 3 times a week and has a caregiver with him during the day.
I want to applaud you for this website. I have vistited many times since the accident. I read your story and was enlightened by all the positive comments you post. As the parent of a child whith a TBI it can be tto much sometimes. Having read your blog, i feel we have a long way to go, but it will work itself out. Keep pushing on Asleigh! You and your parents give all of us hope.
I have spent the last hour or so reading, crying and enjoying the pictures and yes the bits of sunshine you share with Ashleigh. The way I “happened” upon the website was in a search to find avenues to help a young man of 26 who suffered a TBI almost 6 years ago. This seems to pale in comparison to your walk in daily life. I believe it is possible to feel the pain of others and I hope you understand that I have shared your pain from as far as Oregon, or maybe as close as an email. I am originally from Pennsylvania, so we do share a bit of a kinship. I wish for Ashleigh’s continued health and for you as well. I hope you know that you are amazing parents to share your life and your daughter with the world and most of all to share yourselves with your daughter in the most unselfish of ways. I am not a Blogger or a Facebook kind of person. Maybe this exemplifies how moved I am by you and your dedication. 🙂

Appreciate all the efforts taken for Asleigh for her complete recovery to life! My father too had a road accident on 29-Oct-2009. He is recovering and yet to get his speech. We are contsantly working on him with the hope that he will call by our names one day

Hello. My name is Jessie and my brother Ray was hit head on by another vehicle and suffered “brain shear” and four broken bones. Currently he is in an ICU type care center where he is only 3 weeks into his ‘recovery’ process. Thank you for posting your blog and creating the website. It allows others to know that there are families out there who are feeling the same way as you (although I would never wish this pain and heartache on anyone, not even my own enemy) and that your feelings are normal. It also provides hope that anything is possible, and that despite all odds our loved ones can pull through what, at times, seems like all hope is lost.

My son Joe was hit by a drunk driver while walking on 18 Jan 2009. It has been a very long 16 months for our family thus far, and we know we still have a long way to go. Joe has TBI and SCI. His story is on http://www.caringbridge.org , visit josephpasqualini. No parent should ever have to endure such pain of watching your child go through this hell, and yet we must. Much of what is written about Ashleigh is very similiar with Joe. I wonder if you have made any progress in newer therapies – new medications, hyperbaric oxygen, or stem cells. Wishing you the best. In the Houston area, a very talented young man named Joseph Stanton has suffered a severe brain injury. He’s a well-know athlete who was seriously injured in a skateboarding accident.
I’ve read your sites this morning and they have been very helpful as I try to understand the situation and what the future holds for the Stanton’s.

I came across your story while looking up TBI on the internet. I know what your going through as a parent. My daughter graduated in June 2008 and was on a trip with friends to Atlanta, GA when the wreck happened. Taby is doing good and has come along way.
In July 2010 she will be going to TN Rehab Center in Smyrna, TN for the TBI Program they have there. She’s been on a waiting list for a year but now with God’s help, he will see her through this too.
I’m telling you my story because MIRACLES do happen. We “ALL” have been truly blessed!

I don’t know if I’ve ever posted on here or not. I have been following your story since i happened upon it sometime in the last 2 years since my wife’s TBI. We were in a car accident and I got a fractured spine and she got brain injuries resulting in a coma for about a month or so, spasticity and paralysis on the right side, cant talk or swallow. Don’t get a brain injury in Erie, PA cuz no one here knows what to do. The rehab and therapy has been minimal at best and most of the progress has been because of just time and me. She can use a laptop and plays games on pogo.com but the nursing home she is at has too many aides and such that really need to find different jobs. Its all very hard and quite time consuming. I applaud you all. She is lucky to have the family she does and medical personnel that actually care.
I’M SO TOUCH BY YOU ALL STORY THAT I MUST SAY GOD IS ON YOU ALL SIDE AND YOU ARE BLESSED…. MY NEICE WENT INTO A CARDIAC ARREST RIGHT BEFORE HER GRADUATION IN 2008. SHE WENT SKATING AN HER MOTHER WAS OUTSIDE OF THE RINK AND SHE SAW AMBULANCE PULLING UP, SO SHE RUSHED IN AND SEEN HER ONLY BREATHLESS CHILD ON THE FLOOR. BEFORE THE PARAMEDIC’S GOT THERE DID’NT NO ONE KNOW HOW TO PERFORM CPR THAT SHE LOST AIR TO THE BRAIN THAT SHE BECAME BRAIN DAMAGE…..I REALLY NEED TO SPEAK WITH YOU ALL TO GIVE MY AUNT SOME BELIEF THAT HER DAUGHTER WILL COME OUT OF THIS SO PLEASE RESPOND BACK TO ME WE REALLY NEED YOUR HELP MY AUNT IS LOST FOR WORDS WE TAKE CARE OF SADE AT MY HOUSE CAUSE MY AUNT LOST HER JOB AND ALMOST HER HOUSE
