Aquatic Walker
While Ashleigh was doing aquatic therapy our therapist thought she could benefit from a walker that could be used in the water. She called in a group of folks from a non-profit called May We Help. This is a group of engineers who donate their time and expertise to design and build custom aids and tools for the disabled.
Paul, our engineer, spent a lot of his time with us designing and modifying this PVC walker so that Ashleigh will have it to use in the pool. Another volunteer, Amy, did all of the sewing for the safety seat and straps. The walker is customized to fit Ashleigh and will no doubt be a big help with her continued brain injury recovery. It has all stainless steel wheels and fasteners. Paul also designed the walker so that it can come apart quickly so it will fit in our van for the trips to the pool.
We are getting ready to start the process to get back into aquatic therapy and put the walker to use. Thanks so much to Paul, Amy, and the rest of the folks at May We Help.
